Nate's Race is a 5K road race held each year in honor of Nathan Hergenhahn.  Nathan was a remarkable young man who was admired and loved by many.  He was well on his way to success athletically (through basketball and football) and academically.  In the summer between his sophomore and junior years, he died in a car accident.  It was six days after his sixteenth birthday.

In an effort stay physically and mentally fit, Nate was also a runner, and frequently ran with his dad, Ross.  They ran many races together and they had plans to run the Boston Marathon.  In honor of Nate, and in an attempt to keep his memory alive, Nate's Race is held annually at his beloved Alvirne High School.

Nate's Race is a community event run 100% by volunteers.  All net proceeds are donated to the Nathan Ross Hergenhahn Memorial Scholarship at Alvirne High School.
